Kerry R. Thompson (b. 1986, San Diego, California) is an accomplished painter celebrated for his contemporary reimagining of classical techniques. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from San Francisco State University in 2009 with a Bachelor’s degree in Art and earned his Master’s degree in Painting from the New York Academy of Art in 2014, where he received multiple scholarships and was shortlisted for the Third-Year Post-Graduate Fellowship.
Kerry’s first solo show, “K.R. Thompson: A New Mythos,” debuted at the Noel-Baza Gallery in San Diego in 2012. Since then, his work has been featured in numerous exhibitions across New York City and beyond, with paintings in private collections internationally. He has participated in prestigious residencies, including the Terra Foundation for American Art in Giverny, France, and the Hudson River School Painting Residency in New York. He is also a recipient of the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation grant.
Notable public projects include a mural for PS206Q in Queens through New York’s Percent for Art program. Based in Bushwick, Brooklyn, Kerry continues to create and teach, merging classical traditions with contemporary vision.
