Born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Colton Kruizenga received his BFA from Kendall College of Art and Design in 2013. Kruizenga works predominantly with graphite, pastel ink and charcoal media, creating drawings as subtle narratives that demonstrate consideration for technique and mark making. He currently resides in Queens, New York.

Colton’s work has been featured in various group shows and competitions in New York City and the American Midwest including: Dacia Gallery, 98 Orchard St. Gallery, Ground Floor Gallery, Art Elevated Banner Competition, Greenpoint Gallery, the UICA, and ADC Fine Art Gallery in Cincinnati.

Notably, Kruizenga became a finalist in the 16th International ARC salon competition and the 2022 Beautiful Bizarre International Art Prize. He won 1st place from juror Vincent Desiderio at the 2019 Offscreen Art show in Brooklyn and was featured in the April 2018 Issue of American Art Collector for Editor’s choice: Emerging Artist Selection. His drawing “Legs are for Sundays” was published in the 2016 Manifest International Drawing Annual 11 Publication.

“I have always been fascinated by the beauty and significance in seemingly ordinary environments where one can find elegance in the mundane detail of everyday life.”
